Numbers

We have recently regressed with our numbers.

"7:30" is known as the time each night where we begin the warning for bedtime.  (Sometimes it is earlier if we luck out!) We settle down, get comfy in our jammies, grab Mimi and a cup of milk and usually reward Ella with a short movie. Whenever Ella asks to watch a movie earlier in the night, we usually respond with "Nope! It's not 7:30 yet." Our hope was that she would recognize this as the time in which bedtime is approaching.

Tonight, we were counting the fireflies in her book. She counted:

"....ten, eleven, "velve," "virteen," fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seven-thirty!"

It made me smile, even though we've take a step back!

A Waxy Treat

Ella: "OOOH! That's spicy, Dad!"

Derek: "What's spicy? Um....let's not eat the candle wax."

Do Not Disturb

(As I'm getting dressed, Ella comes in and plops on our bed to watch)

Ella: "Too tight?"

(Trying another shirt)

Ella: "Too tight, Mom?"

Baby Update

Nothing too major to update, but here's what's happening!
  • Baby Erin is very active and keeps me up A LOT at night.
  • Glucose test, complete! It was nice to get that out of the way this week.
  • I am experiencing a UTI that has been lingering a while but is finally under control with antibiotics. Ironically, this is around the time I had one during my first pregancy. It is a little eery how similar this pregnancy seems to be to the last one... Hoping for a healthier week next week!
  • Look at this pretty quilt we've added to the nursery from Gma Kathy!!

Lent

In an off-the-wall conversation, Derek and I discussed ideas on what we were going to give up for Lent. Our jokes became our new bet; we challenged each other to the following:

I am giving up Pinterest (the most awesome website with crafts/recipes/decorating ideas/etc)
Derek is giving up the Iowa Outdoors website (filled with fishing tales, forums on hunting/fishing, etc)

My hope is that this will free up our nights (after 8PM) to allow us to get more productive things done!

New Companions

I have recently started catching Ella talking to inanimate objects for the past 3 consecutive nights. I think she is ready for a sister!

1st night: (holding/talking to a snowglobe) "You got owie? You want me to kiss it? *kiss* That better?"

2nd night: (talking to her sloppy joe) "You hungry?"

3rd night: (talking about her toy vaccuum that I asked her to shut it off since it was unattended) "No, leave it on! He naughty. Leave on."

A Night Out!

We had a fun adult night out this weekend celebrating my Dad's 60th Birthday! We went to an awesome Mexican restaurant and then went bowling! I do not see professional bowling in my future, but it is always fun to try. (Bragging moment, I beat Derek 81-80 in the second game. How embarassing for him!)

Ella Bella had a blast staying with Aunt Trista, and her early bedtime Sunday night confirmed that they played hard!

Cartoon of the Day:

This is one of my favorite cartoons on those days that I’m feeling exceptionally pregnant:

Nursery Mission – Complete!

The nursery is officially finished! Now that the mural is done and the crib is in there, I can only think of two things left to do in there:

Move Derek’s clothes into our room
Bring in the baby!

Kids Say the Silliest Things

On our drive home:
Ella: “Cock a doodle doo!”
Me: “Are you a rooster?”
Ella: “Yeah, I’m cockin!”

Vocabulary Update

Ella is an excellent talker these days, so there are only a couple things I can think of right now that still make me laugh:

"I take a mess!" (I make a mess.)
Buffin!! (muffin)
"I wanna rock you." (I want you to rock me.)
"Sesery Sreet" (Sesame Street)
"I want orange pop!" (I want orange juice)
"ABCDE-Off-GHI-KK-EllaMamaP-QRSTUVWXYZ Now Know ABCs Next Wont Sing Me"

Sharing is Caring

Ella hears us preach all day long about sharing and letting people use/eat from/play with her things. So when she wanted to use Derek's work computer and I explained that it was Daddy's, it all backfired:

"Share it!" she said.

Sigh.
